Sorry folks!

This weekend, Berry White and I are getting out of dodge and heading to New York for our own Griswold-style adventure.  Would you believe that I live only 4 hours from the city, have a very cool uncle that has lived there for 20+ years and I'm *just* now visiting for the first time in my adult life?

The last time I went to NY, I was in 1st grade.  My most vivid memory of that trip is of my family's lemon yellow Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser breaking down in the city.  I also vaguely remember ordering a large OJ at a restaurant and the waitress bringing me a shot-sized glass of juice.

I'll resume my sugar and hop-related ramblings next week.  Until then, I leave you with this photo of Simcoe, named after one of the most aromatic hops on the planet.

I'm SO tempted to pack the little dude in my overnight bag.  He would love climbing those Statue of Liberty steps.

  1. AWWWW! I wish our kitten had turned out as sweet as him. We instead live with the constant internal struggle of whether or not to throw him off the balcony and have done with it.

I can't believe this is your first time in NY (for realz). You are gonna have a blast!

  2. how sweet. Have a great trip and wow....enjoy!

  3. Ali,
Because your blog pretty much drives my saliva glands into overload and I get total pastry-envy every time I visit, I have given you the Happy 101 award.
I think the Tweedle Dee/Dum cupcakes are freakin' genius!
